Johnny Carson at the taping of his final Late Show
When I was a kid, the ultimate feeling of security was lying upstairs in bed, and hearing the adults downstairs or in the next room, talking, and watching Johnny Carson on TV. I remember times where I was sick with the flu, thinking how things didn't seem right in the world, but the comforting sound of the Tonight Show made me feel that all was okay and would be better soon. At the time, he seemed like a rock of stability in what felt like an uncertain world.
Do you have memories of the Late Show?
